Robert E. Smith was named president of the Jet Aviation Group in January 2014 after joining the company in July 2012 as chief financial officer (CFO). As president, Smith has overseen strong operational improvements throughout the Jet Aviation portfolio of services in addition to service and facility expansions in Asia, Europe and in North America.
Smith began his General Dynamics career in 1989 with Electric Boat, the U.S. Navy’s leading provider of submarine design, construction and lifecycle support. There he served in various managerial positions, leaving the company as Director of Contracts and Estimating. In 2006, he was named vice president and CFO for NASSCO, a San Diego-based shipbuilding, maintenance and repair company.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and an MBA in Finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Smith currently is a member of the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) Board of Governors.
