Compilation, analysis and dissemination of safety data are an essential foundation for the development and initiation of measures to prevent accidents. Summary information presented here is taken from the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) “Business Aviation Safety Brief (Issue1 and Issue 6)”Pdf Doc . Data presented herein provides a safety trend for periods 1997-2001 and 2002-2006 covered in both theses issues of this valuable IBAC publication. 

Analysis and Publication of safety data is not a means unto itself. Other measures such as International Standards for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO), a recent initiative of IBAC, are needed to raise the safety bar by codifying and adhering to safety best practices.
