A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR GENERAL
IBAC’s two safety programmes, IS-BAO and IS-BAH, lead the industry in the voluntary promotion of safety among the business aviation community in the air and on the ground. We say that these two Standards are created and executed “for the industry, by the industry”. This is a strength shared by no other safety programme for our community and about which IBAC, its member associations, and programme participants are proud. Operators, ground-handlers, subject-matter experts, and auditors contribute annually to the Standards’ development, and, increasingly, the IBAC IS-BAO and IS-BAH teams are reaching out to involve more participants in providing feedback to improve your Standards. If you have not seen them already, please do review the most recent programme-specific newsletters on IS-BAO and IS-BAH and, if you would like, opt in to receive these via email by visiting our opt-in form HERE.
The July IS-BAH newsletter had a great deal of information in it. We hope that it was well received by the member associations and that they, in turn, distributed it to their members. Anyone wishing to opt in to the IS-BAH newsletter mailing list should sign up at this link.
The following stations recently achieved IS-BAH Stage 1 registration. Congratulations to the management and teams from:
- Signature Flight Support in Panama City, Panama
- ICCS Mexico & Latin America in Monterrey, Mexico
- Aviapartner in Ibiza, Spain
The ICAO Council recently adopted the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) that set out the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). Formally known as Annex 16, Volume IV, of the Chicago Convention, these SARPs will become effective from 22 October 2018. Activity under per the CORSIA SARPs becomes applicable on 1 January 2019, when covered operators are expected to establish emissions monitoring plan.
There are still 4 remaining IATA CORSIA Emissions Monitoring Plan Workshops (together with a CORSIA 101), which will be held in the following locations;
- Singapore, 7-8 August
- Nairobi, 14-16 August, hosted by AFRAA
- Istanbul, 28-29 August, hosted by Pegasus Airlines
- Moscow, 4-5 September
- The Nairobi CORSIA EMP workshop will be organized in conjunction with a 1-day Fuel Efficiency Workshop.
- Business aircraft operators are welcome to attend the CORSIA seminars free of charge. To register, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The July CORSIA update is available through the IBAC website. Anyone wishing to receive regular updates on CORSIA should sign up by contacting us at email@example.com.
