CCX Technologies has received a supplemental type certificate (STC) for its AP-250 cyber security device. Mid-Canada Mod Center, CCX’s first Canadian Onboard Cybersecurity solution hardware dealer, completed the installation and certification of the AP-250 on a Gulfstream V aircraft.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for us and an important advancement in cyber security for business jet owners and operators,” said Chris Bartlett, president of CCX Technologies. “Aircraft operators now have access to onboard cybersecurity for their aircraft, something not previously available. Installed on the aircraft, the AP-250 offers actionable insights into what’s really happening in-flight. The CCX team and I are very enthusiastic about working with Mid-Canada Mod Center to achieve this important milestone. Their impressive track record and extensive experience are essential as our first Canadian Onboard Cybersecurity solution hardware dealer. They are an ideal partner and we look forward to collaborating with them on future STCs.”
“ADS, our dedicated design and certification organization and Mid-Canada Mod Center were pleased to work with the CCX team on this latest STC,” said Bill Arsenault, president of Mid-Canada Mod Center. “New technology and innovations like the AP-250 are always welcome. The world’s ever-growing reliance on connectivity and the increasing number of connected aircraft means cyber security is rapidly becoming an important consideration. We look forward to future collaborations with CCX.”
More About the AP-250
The AP-250 is designed with the latest technology and features two dual-band Wi-Fi radios with encryption and ½ km range, plus 1 TB Solid-state drive with all data encrypted at-rest. Equipped with Advanced LTE and a custom antenna, it enables higher throughput, lower power consumption, and better coverage so more users can connect.
The smallest and lightest cyber security-focused router in the market it is an integral part of CCX’s Onboard Cybersecurity solution. It also features powerful capabilities like l advanced firewalls, threat monitoring, integrated intrusion detection and prevention systems, cybersecurity alerts to designated personnel, and more.
The AP-250 can be configured in two ways: an inline appliance or a router. As an inline appliance, the AP-250 operates alongside the aircraft’s existing router to provide a more robust onboard cyber security posture. As a router, it provides end-to-end encryption for all connection types while enhancing Wi-Fi performance to elevate the passenger’s connectivity experience and security. Both configurations enable remote technical support through an LTE connection and simplify compliance with aviation authority cyber security guidelines such as RTCA DO-326 and ED-202.
